Toronto, ON - Entries are now being accepted for the 7th Annual Toronto Nepali Film Festival to be held on March 19, 2016 at Innis Town Hall, University of Toronto. The deadline for submissions is November 20, 2015. The annual festival aims to promote Nepal’s rapidly emerging and vibrant independent filmmaking industry.  

TNFF showcases films that pertain to Nepal or Nepali(s) by filmmakers from around the world. The festival accepts films of all genres and lengths with English subtitles. All films screened in the festival are paid an honorarium depending on the length of the film.  An Audience Choice and a Jury Choice award of will also be presented at the end of the festival, which have previously carried a monetary value of CAD $1000 and CAD $500 respectively.   

Films will be selected based on merit and the content of the films.  The jury will consider relevant Nepali narratives, methods of storytelling, new  genres  in  the  context  of  Nepali  filmmaking,  technical  finesse,  and  other  attributes  of filmmaking in the selection process.

Filmmakers are encouraged to submit online screeners of the films to programming@tnff.ca.  Submissions can also be made by dropping two copies of the film in DVD format at Indigenous Film Archive in Anamnagar or at BAC Art Cafe in Pulchowk in Kathmandu.  Films can be shipped directly to the address in Canada as well.
