8th ANNUAL TORONTO NEPALI FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Toronto, ON - Entries are now being accepted for the 8th Annual Toronto Nepali Film Festival to be held on April 1st, 2017 at Innis Town Hall, University of Toronto and April 2nd, Noel Ryan Auditorium, Mississauga. The deadline for submissions is December 12th, 2016. The annual festival aims to promote Nepal’s rapidly emerging and vibrant independent filmmaking industry.
TNFF showcases films that pertain to Nepal or Nepali(s) by filmmakers from around the world. The festival accepts films of all genres and lengths with English subtitles. All films screened in the festival are paid an honorarium depending on the length of the film. An Audience Choice and a Jury Choice award is presented at the end of the festival carrying monetary values of CAD $1500 and CAD $500 respectively.
Films will be selected based on merit and the content of the films. The jury will consider relevant Nepali narratives, methods of storytelling, new genres in the context of Nepali filmmaking, technical finesse, and other attributes of filmmaking in the selection process.
Online screeners of the films are to be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions from Nepal are accepted by dropping two copies of the film in DVD format at the Indigenous Film Archive in Anamnagar, Kathmandu. Films being submitted from Canada or outside of Nepal can be shipped directly to the address in Canada.
