The Toronto Nepali Film Festival (TNFF) is a non-profit organization supported and run by volunteers which consists of Nepali student groups from various academic institutions, artists, youth and working professionals. This annual festival showcases films that pertain to Nepal and Nepali. The festival display films, documentaries, animation, experimental, shorts and other genres. The festival goals are: a) to support/promote Nepali film making, b)Encourage diversity in the overall content of its program, c) Educate the audience of contemporary Nepali issues through films, d) Create a platform for dialogue between Nepali and international filmmakers, and e) Bring a diverse range of audience under one roof. All the participating films will be paid an honorarium, which will be generated through box office sales, grants, donations and fund raising. The section gives you an idea of TNFF 2010, 2011 and what we hope for in 2012. You have a chance to be a part of our success.
1st TNFF
- Date and place: 13th February 2010 at Innis Town Hall, Toronto
- Program start and end time: 12 noon to 10:15 pm
- Film/Short submission: 35 films/shorts submitted; 10 films/shorts selected
- Participations: Total number of audience for the events was approximately 200. There were 15 volunteers.
- Reach: Our estimation is approx 1200 people; most of the mediums are tnff.ca website, Facebook, Posters, Flyers, Newspaper Articles, Word of mouth and emails from Nepali community organization mailing list

2nd TNFF

- Film/Short submission: 45 films/shorts submitted; 8 films/shorts selected
- Participations: Total number of audience for the events was approximately 250. There were 20 volunteers.

- Film/Short submission: 46 films / shorts submitted. 9 films / shorts selected
- Participations: Total number of audience for the events is estimated at 410. There are 25 volunteers.

Audience:
The festival tends to draw various communities as well as contemporary film lovers. In the past two festivals, 80 % of our audiences were from the Toronto core. The remaining were mostly from the GTA. Some of our audience travelled from Vancouver and US, specifically for the event. 2010 and 2011festival drew an audience of 225 and 300 respectively; mostly South Asian with the following profiles: students and youth (30%), professional adults (30%), young family (20%), mature family (10%) and volunteers (10%).
